About
Marcus (b.1989) is a London Cinematographer, Photographer and Artist, who’s work has evolved across various mediums over the years, ranging from traditional drawing and painting to clay sculpture, street art installation, photography and video.
His introduction to art began at the age of three when his mother, a former Bond Street artist, taught him to draw. After learning traditional techniques in Fine Art, he completed a degree in Psychology. Marcus’s fascination for intricate detail and an interest in human stories are reflected in the nature of his work.
His series of miniature street sculptures portray both individuals at odds with the wider society as well as celebrating triumph of over adversity. His photography captures moments behind the scenes in factual TV and documentary productions as well as wedding and family commissions for others, while his cinematography explores small windows into human stories and craftsmanship.
Inspired by the 2010 documentary ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’, Marcus developed his own style of photography, painting and sculpture. This led to appearances on ITV news, BBC London Radio, BBC World Service TV and Radio talking about his work. His art has also been featured in Time Out London, Creative Review, The Metro UK, The Independent, BBC online, Majestic Disorder Magazine, Art Quarterly Magazine, The Londonist and other street art blogs as well as an exhibition at Graffik Gallery in London alongside street art greats like Banksy, Invader and Alec Monopoly.
